(In some maybe unlikely places)
First from an exhibition I saw earlier in the year (I think it was this year, or the end of last year) of John Martin‘s called Apocalypse. Incredible deep colours and very biblical subjects, extremely emotional and moving. Here’s one of the pieces from the exhibition and if you get a chance to see some of his work, DO IT!
Another incredible artist that was only recently brought to my attention is Zdzislaw Beksinski. He was Polish and murdered for owing a small amount of money to a mafia type…such a waste.
Another inspiration this week that was unexpected was from watching Zach Braff’s new West End show All New People. The story was semi inspirational, but from hearing on the radio how much it meant to the lad being on the stage in the West End and then seeing him at the end of the performance bowing to a standing ovation and tearing up, well pretty much crying just made me feel so proud for him to be achieving one of his dreams
An extremely important inspiration that has kept me practising daily (or thereabouts) consistently since December that I’m so gratefu I found out about was from Mr Austin Kleon’s website in which he explained the importance of a diary when trying to achieve something which I have been doing and is working so well! And here’s a snippet from it, but he explains it better HERE
Finally my musical inspiration for the week is a throwback to what I was listening to when I was around 10 in a cottage in Wales in the freezing air or Easter after walking all day and potentially playing Cluedo, and definitely reading the Beano or Dandy before bed. This album was awesome, and especially this song:
More to come
